The Case for Emotional Intelligence

Offense-taking and accusing attitudes make life difficult.

Teams today rely on collaboration more than ever. But when two or more people come together, there is likelihood of conflicts.

The difference between collaboration or conflict is Emotional Intelligence: the ability to identify, understand and express emotions in a way that aids clear thinking and working better with others.

What people need are practical frameworks, language and reflective space to:

  1. Express honestly what’s going on for them
  2. Receive empathically what’s going on for others

This means, developing the capacity to answer these questions with insight:

  1. What’s alive in me? What’s alive in you?
  2. What would help me? What would help you?
